LAPTOP DISPLAY LIGHT FILTER

The common solution for bright laptops is to cut a sheet of rubylith and place it over your screen. There are two problems with this. First, unless the rubylith is pressed flush with the screen, it makes the display blurry and strains your eyes. Second, one sheet of rubylith doesn't block out enough light, and adding more layers magnifies the blurriness. My latest solution is to cut apiece of tinted or smoked plexiglass to the display's exact size. Then, take the sheet of rubylith and peel back the membrane-thin backing (it's hard to see that it even has a backing). Carefully lay down the rubylith on the plexiglass. It will cling much like cellophane wrap so you can pull it back up easily. It's a little tricky to do it without getting bubbles, but even if there are some they surprisingly don't show up when in use. Now if the plexiglass was cut just right it should just pop in the slightly recessed display frame. It maintains a crisp image and keeps the light down much, much better.
