LOSMANDY G-11 LAPTOP PLATFORM Since I haul my setup out to a dark site, I wanted to try and streamline everything as much as possible which led me to build a laptop platform onto the G-11 pier.Two pieces of PVC pipe were run side by side underneath the pier and bolted into it (this required drilling into the G-11). They extend out from the pier and are also bolted to the G-11 Clipboard with brass brackets for added strength. The clipboard (built by Greg Mueller) is a 1/4" thick slab of aluminum on which I have mounted my SkyWalker2 system, Kendrick Dew Controller, and a temp/humidity monitor. The actual platform is a piece of pine cut and sprayed black with a coating of polyurethane to repel moisture. I fastened aluminum strips along the edges of the wood from the hardware store. So far the platform has been working great out in the field.  |
